2 Avatars of Designing
Marketing is an integral part of any business. Any marketing activity/campaign will be complete only when it is expressed in the form of a design. If you are a designer you should be proud that your designs are the face of the company to the public. So as a designer you should know the design basics.
In Music there are only 7 ragas through which you can get infinite number of tunes. If you take English language it is just 26 alphabets which have created everything including what I have written here. Similarly in designing there are only 2 elements. In my terminology, it can be called as 2 avatars of designing. The reason behind choosing the term “Avatar” is, it is through these 2 avatars any design in this world is created. The 2 Avatars of designing are Lines and Curves. Given below is a sample picture through which the 2 avatars are explained.
Take any design you come across, be it a painting, product, objects etc. it will be either in the form of a line or a curve. The above picture is a sample to explain the same. In the picture, the red marked areas are lines and the blue marked areas are curves. Not only that you can look at any object in the picture, it is also in the form of the 2 avatars. If you want to find out yourself you take any picture and find out how it was created. You will come out with the finding that the base for it is line and curves. Even the human body is full of lines and curves. If you understand this it will help when you begin a design.
Based on this concept you can design your artwork in 5 different ways namely full of lines, full of curves, equal amount of lines and curves, more of lines and less of curves and more of curves and less of lines. Based on your client’s taste and preference you can choose any of these options. Before you begin your design you can decide on how the combinations can be.
If you think further, the final output of any artwork will be of 5 elements namely pictures, drawings, shapes, colours and texts. The artwork will be permutations and combinations of the above mentioned 5 elements. Based on your requirement it has to be rightly mixed.
